“SUPERHERO: the story of a man called Jesus” is truly one of Gregory Hancock Dance Theatre’s masterpieces. This critically acclaimed, full-length modern ballet follows the last week of the life of Jesus as told through the perspective of Jesus and the women surrounding him, and his complicated relationship with Judas Iscariot. Set in “anytime” and “everyplace”, this beautiful work portrays both large and small events in Jesus’ last days, both of which are ultimately significant. SUPERHERO is a “whirl of energy… through color, light, movement, and sound” and is a timeless retelling of a story about a man who changed history.
Artistic Director, Gregory Hancock uses his world-class dancers, his award-winning choreography, and contemporary music to create a stunning work of emotion. The set design of Gregory Hancock utilizes texts from the Gospels written in Greek, Latin, Hebrew, Aramaic and English that submerges the audience into the story.
What better timing than during Holy Week to experience the passion of this story that is captured beautifully through the performances of the dancers of GHDT. SUPERHERO gives flight to the soul!
